Hello SUMMER and hello SUNSHINE!!!! πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸŒž We have a beautiful forecast for the weekend…FINALLY! πŸ™Œ A great day to stop in and get your swimming pool water tested. Rainwater πŸ’¦ is known to have acidic properties that can negatively affect your pool water chemistry balance. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ This can affect anything from the pH balance to alkalinity levels and more, making it unsafe for those swimmers! πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ Stop in today and get those pools balanced and ready for the weekend! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈπŸ˜Ž

Rain can cause havoc to our swimming pools!

RAIN! β›ˆοΈπŸŒ§οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Some of our areas have recently had heavy down pours of rain, which can cause havoc to our swimming pools! First, CEAN-UP! Inspect the pool and remove any debris from your skimmer and pump baskets. Remove all debris that may be floating on top of your pool surface using a leaf net/skimmer net and remove any debris that may be at the bottom of your pool. Since your pool may have extra water, from all the RAIN, depending on your filtration system, it would be a good idea to vacuum at a lot of debris off the bottom of your pool to waste. But if you have little or no debris, pump the excess water by turning your filter to β€œwaste,” hooking up your backwash hose, and turning your pump on. Pump out the water until the waterline reaches the halfway point on the skimmer plate or about 6 to 8 inches from the top of the pool. If you can’t use your filtration system to lower your water, you may have to use a small submersible sump pump. Just make sure you drain the water to the correct level. You’ll want to inspect your pool filtration system and clean out/backwash if needed. Rain can often introduce contaminants to your water. I suggest adding a dose of your GLB or SALT SOLUTIONS ALGAECIDE during the day and SHOCK treating in the evening after the rain has ended. Always test your water to make sure your PH and Alkalinity levels are still in a good range. With heavy rain and storms it may be a good idea to bring in a pool water sample and have it professionally checked…you don’t want to end up with a green or cloudy pool from the storm. πŸ€’πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Why does my swimming pool water level keep dropping?

Did you know that the number one way swimming pools lose water is through evaporation? According to the Department of Energy, 70% of water loss in pools and is through evaporation. Evaporation occurs whenever you expose wind or air to the surface of your pool. Water molecules rise to the surface, form into a vapor and eventually get released into the air.
One sure way to determine whether your pool is losing water from evaporation or from a leak is to perform a water bucket test. Fill your pool to its normal level.
Using a bucket, fill it to 1 inch from the top with pool water.
Place the bucket in the pool at about five inches. You can set it on the first or second step of your pool.
Mark the water level inside the bucket and the water level outside the bucket using a marker or piece of tape. After 24 hours, compare the two water levels. If the water level outside of the bucket dropped more than the water level inside of the bucket, then you likely have a pool leak.
Losing water to evaporation is normal. One way to prevent swimming pool evaporation is to use a swimming pool solar cover. Not only does it prevent water from escaping your pool, it also traps any heat you have gained from the sun or pool heater.

Cooler Nights Making You Lose Heat in Your Swimming Pool!? You Need a Solar Cover to Help Keep Your Water Warm!

Cool nights making you lose your heat? πŸ₯ΆπŸ’¨πŸ”₯😱 You need a SOLAR COVER to help keep your swimming pool water warm. πŸ’β€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈπŸ”₯ We stock a wide variety of sizes. Solar covers minimize heat loss from evaporation by acting as a barrier between swimming pool water and the air, especially at night, when the air is cooler than the swimming pool. Specifically, you can reduce your swimming pool heating costs by up to 70% by using a solar cover. 75% of a swimming pool’s heat loss is due to evaporation. Covers also help keep the pool clean by preventing dirt and debris from entering the water. Solar covers are the most efficient way to heat your pool, reduce water evaporation, reduce chemical loss and extend your swimming season!! If we don’t have your size in stock, we can order what you need! Stop in weekdays 10am – 5pm and Saturdays 9am – 1pm πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜Š
